Lazy Days - but freezing ones!

Good morning all from a bright but freezing cold corner of the UK! Everything outside had a thick coating of frost on it this morning - but no snow - yet! - although we have been threatened with some later. I think my son was getting a bit excited at the prospect - although not for the simple pleasures of snowball fights and building snowmen. More because it raised the possibility that school might be closed. Sigh.

And so much for my efforts for our family diets to be more balanced and health conscious after the indulgences of the festive period. Although all the offspring are maddeningly lithe & slim, both OH and me could do with shedding a significant number of pounds in weight but it's something of a constant challenge! My son had announced that he's doing a 'Masterchef' style challenge in his food technology lessons at school and had to come up with a dish to make that would then be 'tasted & judged'!  So instead of picking something along the balanced and healthy lines of, say, stir fried oriental veg or a hearty veg & bean bake or similar, what did my little ray of sunshine decide he wanted to make?  A banoffee pie!  And not a low-cal version - the full works with biscuit & oat base, caramel & whipped cream. So we set to work on making this yesterday so he could practice and check timings, etc., and then he announced that he didn't want any because he didn't like it! He just liked the banana! So this plate of high cholestrol scrumminess is now sitting in my fridge - and it would be a shame not to eat it wouldn't it.....? And he's got to make another one this week!  I'm just hoping all the boys at school eat it all so that he comes back with the empty plate!

Anyway, less of the Sunday morning waffle! Just a quick card to share with you today - and along the teenage boy theme!

I used a MoManning digi - 'Paul Typing' - and coloured him with promarkers.

The backing papers are from First Edition and EK Success 'life words'.
I then added a Kraft tag to go in a little pocket, with sentiment stamps from LOTV and a wooden button.
So quite a simple card, but I do like that image - and I don't think many teenage boys would appreciate too much fussiness and flowers on a card would they? lol.
So I do hope that you have a good day - and stay warm.
Back soon,
Kim x

  20. Hi Kim, oooh what a fab card! The image is great and the graphic feel to the card is just perfect for those pesky boys! I have to admit to being rather glad that the only offspring I have, and am going to have!, is of the female type - I wouldn't know where to start with a boy and then make him a card, oooooh nooo!!

Have been reading back through your blog as well about your son sleeping in, and to be honest, I used to be like that when I was a teenager too! My dad used to hate me getting up at midday, changing straight into my uniform (this was weekends - I had a weekend job) and going out - he was forever moaning that I missed the best part of the day!! You can imagine how much attention I paid to him - not a lot!! Of course now I have SHMbO I'm up at 6am every weekday, arrrggh!

The bannoffee pie sounds scrummy too, and glad I'm not the only one who cooks a different meal for everyone.

    See you soon,
    Sarah

  23. Hi Kim, it has snowed here but seems to be slowly disappearing today. Your story about your sons pie made me smile. If he doesn't like it how is he going to judge if it is okay? Lol!! You will have to charge him for a new pair of jeans for you as won't be able to get in your old ones. Lol!!!

Your card as always is awesome sweetie. I wish I could colour with Promarkers as well as you.

    Hugs
