Pretty Pink & Blue!

Good morning and hope that your week is starting well? And for those of you (like me!) with the school holidays in full swing - I hope that you're surviving without constant need for caffeine, chocolate or something stronger! If so, you're probably doing better than me! I seem to have this constant trail of teenagers wandering through the house (and especially the kitchen!) and am thinking of just sticking a big sign up saying 'Kim's Cafe'! I wouldn't mind but they're all a lot taller than me now as well! I remember the days when it was lots of little ones bombarding the house, but now they arrive on skateboards & bikes!
Anyway, less of the waffle and on to today's card! Believe it or not, this is my first Saturated Canary digi - and probably not the last! I've kept seeing these images all over peoples blogs and have finally succumbed!
This one is called 'Thank You' and I just love that expression!

I've coloured her with promarkers and pencils and the papers are freebies - and I can't resist freebie papers!

I've added a Marianne die cut swirl and punched flowers with pearls. The middle panel has a Tonic 'floral border' punched edge and ribbon, with a sheer ribbon bow. Quite a simple card really, but I didn't want to overwhelm the image - those eyes should take centre stage!
Hope you like her!

Bronte Kisses!

Good afternoon all and hope that your weekend is going well? And how did you enjoy the Olympics Opening Ceremony last night (for those who watched it!)? We were sprawled across the sofas eating chocolate buttons & watching, and thought it was quirky, unique & bizarrely British! Just like the British people themselves really! Although the bits that made us laugh out loud were the Queen with Daniel Craig (phwoar!) and Mr Bean with the orchestra! A joy!
Anyway, on to today's creation! And I've used a gorgeous image from Mo's Digital Pencil - Bronte Kisses

Don't they just look so sweet together, with Bronte giving Bella a special 'doggy' kiss! And I hadn't noticed until I started colouring it in, the little plaster on Bella's knee! It's those little touches that make these stamps such a joy.

I've coloured the image with promarkers & pencils (as always lol!), though not quite sure about my 'curly hair' colouring! The backing paper is from K&Co, and I just love that soft green/teal colour. I've been doing my usual trick of 'saving' papers I love - though quite what I'm saving them for I'm not quite sure! But decided that it was time to get it used!
The sentiment is from the digi set with the image, and is lovely - although with Tilly the Dog I have to say she'd rather be sat on your knee (all 23kg of her!) than at your feet - lol! I'm sure she think's she's the size of a chihuahua!
I've used a Marianne swirl die cut and butterflies, with a little added stickles and pearls, and some baker's twine & a cute little heart charm from Wild Orchid - thought it matched the heart tag on Bronte's collar!
Hope that your weekend goes as planned!

Orange & Yellow!

Yes, it's me again! As it's Friday, it's challenge time again over at Totally Papercrafts - and the theme for this week is 'orange & yellow', so your creation should have these colours as their main theme!

We're sponsored this week by

so do go over to the Totally Papercrafts challenge and have a look at the bright & sunny creations from the DT.

Before I show you my contribution for this week I should issue a 'shades on, very bright colours' alert!

I've used a Whimsy stamp called 'sweet little donkey' and he is rather cute! I've coloured him with promarkers in shades of orange & yellow (surprise, surprise!).

The backing papers are from Teresa Collins and I've used my Tonic border punch and some added lace. The flower is using Marianne dies and the leaves are Poppstamps 'meadow leaf' using vellum.
The sheer ribbon is from Joanna Sheen. And I distressed all the edges with a 'Big & Juicy' pad for a bit of added emphasis (as if it really needs it lol!).  At least it all looks bright & sunny!

And this week it's Yours Truly that's hosting it - my first time as a DT member - and the theme is 'All That Glitters'! So do pop over to the challenge blog and have a look at the great DT creations and then get your glitter out!

We're sponsored this week by

and my creation using a Stamping Boutique image is

I loved those little fish - and as my daughter (now 19!) is still a huge fan of 'Finding Nemo' I just had to colour them black and gold!

I coloured the image with promarkers - and then added stickles & glitter of course! The sentiment is from LOTV - with a bit of added grafitti!  The black card and glitter paper was from my stash and the sheer ribbon from Joanna Sheen.

Sally & Bella head to the beach!

Hello all, and hope that your week is going well. Still no sunshine in our little corner of the UK :(   Quite warm but a bit of blue sky would be welcome!  Still, I thought I'd add a 'summertime' feel card today!

This is a Sassy Cheryl digi called 'Sally & Bella head to the beach' - and don't they look a happy pair!

I just love how Bella the doggy is smiling! Our Tilly the Dog loves to go to the beach too - but has a nasty tendency to try drinking the seawater (which has unfortunate consequences - oops!). We're lucky enough to live near the sea - just a shame we don't get the sunny weather to go with it!

I've coloured the image with promarkers and pencils.  The bright stripy backing paper is from Emma Ball, with some coredinations card. The red twill ribbon and shell embellishments are from my stash. The sentiment is a LOTV one.
Hope this makes you feel like summer!

Thinking of you...

Good evening all. Well, I know that many of you in the UK have been having nice sunny weather today - but not here! Grey, damp drizzle was the general weather for today :(
I keep hoping for some sunshine but I might be waiting a while....
I seem to have had a busy couple of days - I thought school holidays should be relaxing? Maybe for the children but not the parents! So after a busy day at work today I'm hoping that I'll get a little bit of crafting time tomorrow!
Anyway, this card is one I made a few days ago using one of my favourite LOTV image 'Times to Treasure'

I've used promarkers to colour the image and kept the colours soft & pastel. The backing papers are from First Edition 'Birdsong' and coredinations card. The die cut circle is using a Spellbinders 'persian motifs'.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid and the die cut leaves are 'meadow leaf' from Poppystamps, with some added pearls from my stash. I stamped 'Thinking of you' with a CraftersCompanion stamp, but used a sepia tint, which is probably a bit too pale, maybe I should have either used a stronger colour for that or stamped it onto a separate piece of card!

Let's go fly a kite!

Good morning and hope that your morning is as bright as it is here! It's lovely when I get up to sit and have my first cup of tea of the day with the sun shining (although that hasn't been often this summer up to now! - but being always a 'cup half full' type of gal I keep hoping!).
I'm trying to make an effort not to witter on about drivel (I'm sure you're not really interested hearing about the trials of teenagers & pets with attitude!), so I'll get straight on to today's card!
I was asked to make a card for a little boy - and couldn't think of a more cute 'little boy' image than this one from Mo Manning

This digi stamp is called 'Kite' from MosDigitalPencil - and just love that little smile!

I've coloured him with promarkers and pencils and added a little distress ink to the edges. The backing papers are from Coredinations and Tim Holtz, the two panels embossed with Crafts Concepts 'Starry Night' and then lightly sanded back, and the edges of the background square also sanded. The sentiment stamp is one of the Whimsy ticket sentiments (and ticket die cut), with some added twine and buttons (can' resist buttons!).  Quite a simple layout, but just think the image is a cutie, and didn't want to overwhelm him!

Love the red and blue together (perhaps I'm feeling a bit patriotic?!) and he's such a lovely image - looks a bit cheeky, cute & grubby! (which is probably a general definition for most little boys! lol!).
Hope you like it.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges :-
Raise the Bar - red, white & blue
Simply Create Too - use it two times (the ticket sentiment)
Phindy's Place - button it

MacKenzie

I'm back again! Yes, because it's Friday I'm back with another DT hat on - this time for Totally Papercrafts. The challenge this week is an inspirational picture

This is Lisa's gorgeous dog Dixie - who looks pretty relaxed! Lisa is hosting this week's challenge - so your creation can either be the colours (cream, brown, aqua), chair, dog - or just relaxation! How does this photo inspire you?
This week we're being sponsored by TWO fabulous companies - Meljen's Designs and Mayzy's Art - which means there are two prizes!

and the winner can select 5 digi stamps!
and

where the winner can select 4 digi images!
So have a look at the fantastic DT inspiration for this week and then GET CRAFTING!

My creation is using a gorgeous Mayzy Art image called 'MacKenzie' - and she's just lovely! I used the colour combination of brown, cream and aqua - and thought they worked quite well together.

I've used coredinations card, the centre panel was cut with Spellbinders edgeabilities and then I added a flower cut with my first Sizzix die I bought when I got my BigShot (and I'd really cry if that got broken! My BigShot was the best craft purchase!) I've added some sheer ribbons from Joanna Sheen and the sentiment stamp is from LOTV. The corners were cut from Spellbinders - with added pearls!
Hope you like her too! Do pop over to look at some of the other fabulous Mayzy Art digis!

So have a browse at their creations for inspiration (and do visit their blogs - they're a very talented bunch!) - and then start crafting!
My contribution for this challenge is

I love this little character from LOTV with his sailing boat - and doesn't he look proud! I wasn't sure about colouring him in monochrome, but decided to take the bull by the horns - or rather the promarkers & pencils to hand! After my initial doubts I think he turned out ok.
The backing papers are from K&Co (the spotty one!), and American Crafts, with a panel embossed with Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots'. For added definition I decided to add some stitching round the panels and distress ink. The sentiment is also from LOTV - with a die cut from Spellbinders 'lattice motifs'. I added some twine and a wooden button & a little metal ships wheel from my stash.
Hope you like him!

Love Lives Here!

Hello all and hope that your week is going well? Just the usual goings-on in our household, and I'm still getting used to having Jack on school holidays and Lauren back at home. It is lovely to have a house full again (as we always seem to have their friends here as well!) but it does seem to drastically reduce my crafting time! On the days I'm not at work I seem to move from making food to clearing up, washing up, tidying up and then starting all over again! Hey ho. We had an enjoyable hour or so today though when we called in at our local Cats Protection and spent a happy hour cuddling cats and kittens! I'd love to bring them all home - but Grumpy Poppy would be even more grumpy and Tilly the Dog would keep trying to wash them & play with them (and probably get scratched to bits in the process!). Do support your local groups like this if you can - they need all the help they can get!
Anyway, for something different today I thought I'd show a couple of little pieces of cross stitch. I do love my sewing, even though the papercrafts seem to have taken over somewhat!

This was a simple design that I loved and I just put it in a basic Ikea frame. I think the frame probably needs some decoration or embellishment - what do you think? Suggestions welcome!
I must admit that I like the challenge of something a bit more complicated sometimes but I also enjoy making simple 'hangers' for doors, etc. - and these seem to be scattered about all over at Christmas. I love decorating up at Christmas (probably go a bit overboard really!) - so now I make them and tend to give them away to friends!
This was supposed to be a Christmas one, but I think it could be for all year really. Apart from the gold fleck in the Aida fabric (which my photo doesn't show!) it's fairly basic.
Anyway, I'm hoping to get some papercrafting time tonight - some DT work to do to keep me out of mischief!

Just so cute!

Good evening all! Yes, I survived the battle of the garden! I can't believe how fast everything had grown and decided the best tactic was just to wade in with wellies on, armed with secateurs and a big sharp knife! Two hours later and with a recycle bin full to the brim (after squashing it all down several times!) I can actually see some daylight through there. I was half expecting to uncover a lost civilisation but instead spent a lot of time trying to avoid squashing all the little frogs that were hopping round the pond! Tilly the Dog insisted on 'helping' - which usually consists of standing on any delicate plants with her big fat feet but missing the weeds! Ho hum.
Anyway, less of my wittering.  This evening's card features a Mo Manning digi stamp that is 'just so cute' (hence the post title!).

Actually titled 'Spit happens' I just think this is a really cute image - and really enjoyed colouring it. I've used my ever faithful promarkers and pencils and kept to fairly neutral colours (just hoping it doesn't look too 'washed out' with my dodgy photography skills).

The backing papers are coredinations card and Nitwit Collections 'In the meadow - hearts blue' which is just scrummy! I've used a Tonic border punch and added ribbon & buttons from my stash. The sentiment stamp is from LOTV and the felt embellishment is from my stash.
Hope you like it!

Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot Bikini!

Good morning all - and it's actually a reasonably dry morning here! So a quick post before I head out to try and get my jungle of a garden under some sort of control.  What with all the rain, but warm conditions, there's a definite rain-forest feel to the back garden and I keep worrying every time Tilly the Dog and Grumpy Poppy head out that they'll get lost in the undergrowth.... A friend called in a few days ago and said " Ooh your garden's looking very lush" - which I think translates as 'overgrown'!
Anyway, today's card features a brilliant character from Mo's Digital Pencil and the digi stamp is actually called 'Little Umbrella' but I just love that attitude. I think it should be re-titled 'It's a hard life...'.

I could live a life like that...!
I've coloured the image with promarkers and pencils.

The backing papers are from Emma Ball - lovely summery feel to them! The spotty ribbon is from Joanna Sheen with a button from my stash, and the sentiment is a Whimsy one of course! Sorry, but these stamps seem to somehow creep in on most cards at the moment - you must be sick of seeing them! But I just love some of the sentiments on them - and this Mae West quote is one of my favourites! I've cut it with the Whimsy ticket die and edged with distress ink. The gems were coloured with promarkers.
This is a fairly simple card for me - no die cuts, no flowers, etc...! I don't think I'll ever manage the 'clean and simple' look though! Whenever I try it my cards just look unfinished lol! And I love the shabby chic look, but struggle to achieve that either! Mine just look distinctly shabby! Hey ho!
Well, I'll do and don the gardening gloves and go on a 'hack and slash' mission! If I'm not back on the blog in a few days please send out a search party.....
Back soon (hopefully lol!), Kim x

Make a wish!

Back again! Well it's Friday which means its also time for a new challenge at Totally Papercrafts. This week we are sponsored by

and the challenge is to use 'Lots of Layers' - at least 3! So get out all those papers and embellishments and craft away!
All the entries last week were fantastic - such talented crafters out there in Blogland! So do pop over to the TPC page and have a look at the inspiration the DT have produced for this week.
My contribution is this one, uses a 'Wee Stamps' digi image called 'Dandelion Girl'

These images all have such sweet expressions! I've coloured her with promarkers and prisma pencils - love using both these mediums for the depth & shading they give.
There are actually 7 layers on this card (if you count the matting layers too!) plus sentiment, ribbons, flowers, etc.! Trust me to get carried away and throw all sorts at it!
The papers used are coredinations card and a couple of freebie papers.  I've used my faithful DooHickey 'Lovely Fence' die and a Marianne buckle die. The ribbon is from CardCraftUK. The sentiment is from LOTV. The little corner is actually from the Spellbinders 'Persian motifs' set, which I cut into four - they make sweet corners, with a pearl from my stash. The flowers are of course from Wild Orchid and the blue rose is actually an ivory one sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer!

and a quick look at the inside too!
Anyway, I'll stop waffling now and go and get some jobs done. I'm off work today - but that just means I do other jobs at home instead! And as Jack has now finished school for the summer I'll be wearing the taxi driver hat most likely too!
Back soon - and can I just say a big thank you to all those who leave such lovely comments - they really mean such a lot!
Take care, Kim x

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:-
PartyTimeTuesday - punches/die cuts

CraftyCatz Challenge Time!

It's Friday - which means it's challenge time again at Crafty Catz. So do pop over and have a look at some of the great DT inspiration for this week's challenge which is 'Olympics'. Unless you've been on the moon for the last year or so, you'll realise that the Olympic Games will be starting in the UK very soon! So think about what the Olympics inspires in you craft-wise - and join in the challenge!
We're sponsored this week by Crimson Cloud

and the prize is a choice of 3 packs of die-cuts.

My 'Olympics' effort is

The gold mirri board was embossed with a great embossing folder from CraftConcepts called 'starry night'. I added the 'rings' which were die cut with coredinations card and Sizzix circle dies. The numbers are peel-offs, and I went a bit mad with the spotty ribbons from Joanna Sheen (I love any sort of ribbon! - my stash of ribbons is quite a scary sight!), attached with small gold brads. The flags were 'left-overs' from our Diamond Jubilee Tea Party!
So do join us at CraftyCatz this week!

Sassy Sally Sits In Wonder!

Good evening all and hope that your week is going well so far? The usual busy chaos in our household - my son returned from his school trip to France, had thoroughly enjoyed himself, very tired and with a bag full of laundry! And thankfully loved his bedroom makeover (otherwise he would have been shipped back off to France!). It's definitely not a little boys room anymore (well, he is 13!) - with all his computer geek stuff, tv, xbox, etc., it resembles something like Mission Control or an IT Suite with a bed in it lol! Ho hum!
Anyway, less of my waffling!
Today's card features another of the gorgeous Sassy Cheryl digi stamps that I've got a real soft spot for! This one is 'Sassy Sally sits in wonder' - and just love that expression!

I've coloured Sassy Sally with promarkers and prisma pencils

she's adorable really!
The backing paper is from Basic Grey 'Hopscotch', with coredinations card and card from stash. I've added a Marianne swirl and heart die cut, a Poppystamps 'buckle' die and punched flowers. The sentiment stamp is a Whimsy one, with the whimsy ticket die. I've added an embossed panel (Cuttlebug 'Birds & Swirls') and sheer ribbon from Joanna Sheen.

and a quick look at the inside too!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:-
Creative Card Crew - pearls and swirls

I just thought I'd also add a new photo of Tilly the Dog - my daughter Lauren took it with her new camera that she got for her birthday last week! It's definitely Tilly with her 'Woe is me' expression!

How dare she complain! She's one very spoilt dog! lol!

Monday 9 July 2012

Pink & Green!

Good morning - Monday again! How did that happen? I think I must have blinked and missed the weekend! We've had a busy weekend and there never seems to be enough hours in the day. It was my daughter's 19th birthday last Friday and on Saturday we had about 9 or 10 of her friends here before they all headed off to town! They don't go out till about 10pm - just when we're starting to think about locking up for the night! Oh to have the energy of youth again! And my youngest is due back from his school trip to France tonight. We've spent all weekend emptying his room out, sorting wiring, putting a new worktop in for his computer, etc., and clearing out rubbish! It's quite awe-inspiring how much clutter a 13 year old can accumulate! So, just got today now to get it back into some semblance of order before he returns! And amidst all this I've had no time (or energy!) for crafting this weekend and I'm definitely feeling withdrawal symptoms!
I made this card at the end of last week - using one of my favourite LOTV images called 'Times to Treasure'

I've kept this one fairly simple (for me lol!) with a limited amount of patterned paper, etc., and I was quite pleased with the 'fresh' feel that it has. The image is coloured with promarkers

I've mounted this on coredinations card and just used one panel of paper from First Edition 'Birdsong' 6x6 pad.
The sentiment stamp is from Whimsy Stamps (with the Whimsy ticket die) and the flowers and leaves are from Wild Orchid. I'm not sure about my flower arranging skills though! The sheer ribbon in that lush deep pink is from Joanna Sheen, and the pins are from my stash.
Well, I'd better get on with sorting Jack's room! But I'm determined to get some crafting in somewhere today!   Back soon, Kim x

On The Beach!

Good morning again! Two posts on a Friday - as it's also time for a new challenge over at Totally Papercrafts!  And, despite the lack of summer that we seem to be having in the UK, the theme for this week is 'Here Comes Summer'! Yes, yes, I know that we haven't had much sunshine this summer - and brollies and wellies are more the fashion items for the season, but we can dream can't we? So, close your eyes, imagine a warm sunny day and get those crafting fingers going!  And it's a great challenge prize this week from Simon Says - a $25 voucher to spend of some of the great crafting goodies that they have!
Simon Says Stamp

So do go on over to the Totally Papercrafts challenge blog and have a look at the great Design Team creations to get you in the mood for summer!
My effort for this week (whilst dreaming about warm sunny beaches) is

Just love those deckchairs & beach hut! These were from a freebie stamp set and papers by Emma Ball that I got with a craft magazine, and I combined them with a couple of other stamps. I've coloured them with promarkers and then used chalks to create a soft sky and beach effect

I made some bunting with the Emma Ball papers too, and added the little stamped boat.
The sentiment stamp is a blank ticket one from Whimsy with printed wording in, distressed with Antique Linen, and some added twine.
I was quite pleased with the overall effect. Something different to my usual cards, but liked the relaxed summery feel!
Hope the sun shines for you a bit this weekend!

Time for Tea

Good morning Blogland and it's Friday - which means it's time for a new challenge at CraftyCatz!  This week the challenge is 'Seeing Spots' - so we'd like to see some spottiness going on somewhere on your creation!
We're being sponsored this week by
who produce a really varied range of digi-stamps - something for everyone!
So do pop over to the CraftyCatz challenge blog and have a look at the brilliant projects made by the Design Team - and don't forget to add your own!
Here's my contribution this week, using one of the Floppy Latte images - Time for Tea

I've coloured the image with promarkers and prisma pencils. The spotty papers and the teatime papers are from Nitwit. I added a spotty ribbon bow and a felt flower cut with a sizzix die and added a button from my stash (with a few promarker spots!) and a bit of bakers twine.
Hope you like it!

Have A Sassy Birthday!

Good morning and hope that your day is going well? Well, my youngest should currently be on a ferry across the channel at the moment heading to Normandy - heaven help the teachers with them all! Just hope the crossing is smooth and that they all have a great time! He's back next Monday night so we're taking advantage of his absence to tackle the dark & scary space that is his bedroom and bring some order to the chaos! It's always like venturing on a hazardous quest entering a teenage boy's room! And hoping that I can shift the remains of a really stinky migraine that hit me about 3am - oh joy!
Anyway, today's card is another Sassy Cheryl digi and those knock-knees are adorable!

Quite a simple card for me really lol! The backing paper is from the Teresa Collins 'Fabrications' pack that I got - such lovely papers and colours, I'm going to have to get some more before I run out! I've layered this with coredinations card and used Marianne die cuts to make the swirl and flowers. The panel was punched with an old Fiskars lace punch that sadly died a death in the making of the card lol! oops!
The sentiment stamp is from Whimsy - fantastic stamps those, with sentiments for all sorts of things!

I've coloured the image with promarkers and added a couple of cute star buttons that I grabbed from a basket of reduced goodies at CardCraftUK - so difficult to resist a bargain! And I just love buttons of all shapes and sizes!
Anyway, that's it from me today! Hope you like her!
