Fredericka!

Good morning and back again - hope you haven't eaten too many chocolate eggs...?  I have to say that my darling offspring do love their chocolate (can't think where they inherited that from....!) and have already snaffled their chocolate goodies up to their rooms.  In typical fashion I would imagine that Lauren's will be carefully displayed in her immaculately tidy room and gradually consumed over the coming days.  However, the discarded wrappings from Jack's are probably already scattered over his bedroom floor (along with most of his other things) and I'll be very surprised if there's any trace of chocolate left by teatime! I keep telling myself to keep my OCD tendencies in check and that it's perfectly normal for a teenaged boy to hang up his clothes, books, dirty laundry, etc., on the floor and that an attractive selection of used crockery and glassware is artfully displayed over desktops, window sill and bedside table. I find my best defence mechanism is just to close the door and not look at it....Sigh.

Anyway, Sunday morning waffle over with!  If you haven't seen it, I did a post with a random draw for my blog candy winner - just scroll down!
But I've got details of a brilliant new release from Nikky Hall over at Polkadoodles! She's just released a fab new cd 'Fredericka' with brilliant digi images on, together with backing papers and sentiments - and there's a special paper pack offer with it at the moment too!
  Limited edition whilst stocks last

I've used one of these gorgeous new images for my card today - this is Anya

I love these images, I think they have a more 'mature' look than many that are around at the moment. I've coloured her with promarkers and flexmarkers, with a little added pencil for detail. I used quite 'autumnal' colours for this one, but I'm going to do it again with some pastel spring colours for a completely different feel!

The backing paper is from K&Co and I've added Marianne die cut flowers and swirl with a button from stash, and some flower shaped brads.
So do pop over to Polkadoodles - there are some great offers on at the moment and don't forget to have a look at this great new cd! It's free shipping over £10 so you can treat yourself to an Easter pressie (less fattening than chocolate!).
Have a great Bank Holiday!
Back soon,

Heavy Metal Time!

Good morning - and Friday again already! A warm welcome to my new followers - thank you so much for taking the time to follow my little corner of Blogland.

I can't believe that it's Good Friday - Easter seems very early this year, but the wintry weather isn't helping us to feel very spring-like!  However, my daughter Lauren had a wonderful time yesterday (and definitely feels a bit more spring-like!). She was meeting up with some of her girlfriends at one of the girl's houses - who lives on a farm near us. So she spent a very happy few hours cuddling lambs, helping to feed them and then out on a quad bike to fetch in a ewe with 2 newborn lambs - much to her delight!  I can imagine all the 'oohing' and 'aahhhing' that went on! A very pleasant break from assignments and revision!  And my youngest has now broken up from school so I doubt that I'll see much of him before late mornings over the next 2 weeks!  He's not one of nature's early risers..... And apparently I've got to buy him a bigger lunch box because there's not enough food in his box at the moment! Sigh.

Anyway, less waffle!  As it's Friday it's time for a new challenge over at Totally Papercrafts and this week the Team A challenge is hosted by our lovely Carol who has chosen the theme of 'metal' - so we'd like to see some metal on your creations.

I've used a gorgeous LOTV stamp 'Coffee Break' and coloured it with promarkers and flexmarkers

The backing papers are from First Edition. I've added some lace from stash and some seam binding (from Pretty Little Ribbon shop) and some pretty blossoms from WOC with a Marianne die cut swirl. My touch of metal is that cute handbag charm, and then some pearls from stash to finish off.
and the inside decorated to match!

So do pop over to Totally Papercrafts and see the fabulous inspiration from the DT - and then join in! We are sponsored this week by

I'll be back soon,

A 'Getting Older' Birthday!

Good morning all and hope that your week is going well.  Still no sign of any warmer weather for us and I've a feeling that we'll still be wrapped up over Easter too!  Feeling a bit tired this morning - had an early 'unscheduled' start - Poppy the Cat decided that she'd get off our bed and come downstairs and wake Tilly the Dog up - at 5.30am!  So then Tilly decided she'd wake me up to tell me that Poppy had woken her up. So I had to come down, shuffling along in pyjamas and only one eye half open (so glamorous!) to let the dog out and stand at the back door watching the odd snowflake, then make the cat go back upstairs so that I could then crawl back into bed (whilst muttering and grumbling). But by then I was awake and it takes a while to drift back off to sleep - then the alarm goes at 6.45! Don't you just love pets......sigh.

Anyway, a quick card to share with you today.  One of our friends had a 'significant' birthday last week so I had to make a suitable card

I used one of the fantastic Bugaboo images (great for humorous cards!) and coloured the image with promarkers and flexmarkers

The fabulous embossed red coredinations card is from a gorgeous Core Impressions pad that I won in some blog candy from the lovely Eileen and then some stripy paper that was a freebie with a mag.  The sentiment is also from Bugaboo.  Then I simply added some bakers twine and black dew drops from Polkadoodles and decorated the inside to match

Quite a simple card really, but I think he liked it!
Back soon,

Busy Gardener!

Hello all, and hope that if you're suffering from the cold wind & snow that you're managing to keep warm! Thankfully the snow that we had has more or less gone, but it's still freezing!  We've kept seeing an odd few flakes of the white stuff but not settling - yet.  But somehow or other I don't think we'll be sitting in the garden over Easter.....

A little card today featuring a lovely Sarah Kay stamp 'Gardens need many helpers'

I love this cute image!  But then again, I don't think there's a Sarah Kay image that I don't like lol!
I've coloured him with promarkers and flexmarkers

I decided to make a version of a 'criss cross' card. I've used coredinations card, K&Co and First Edition papers and mounted the image on a Spellbinders 'floral oval'

I've used distress inks on the edges, and a Tonic border punch. The green seam binding is from Pretty Little Ribbon shop and the chipboard embellishment is from K&Co.

Hope you like it!  Although I think it's going to be a while before I can do any gardening!
Back soon,

Thinking of you

Hello all and hope that your weekend has been a relaxing one - and hopefully a warm one!  It's been freezing here (as I would imagine it has over most of the UK!).  My daughter & I took Tilly the Dog on the field at the back of our house and it was such a bitterly cold wind it hurt! Even Tilly was relieved to get home! So I've been doing warm things today - baking lol! It's become something of a necessity really with a teenage boy to feed.  It's a bit like throwing food into a black hole. Goodness knows where it goes because with the amount he eats he should be as wide as he is tall, but he's just growing upwards and has the build of a beanpole!  It's so unfair lol!  As my mum would have said, he's cheaper to keep for a week than a fortnight!

Anyway, in between the freezing dog walks, I managed to make a card yesterday. Sadly, it was one of those cards that aren't particularly happy ones to make but are occasionally a necessity.  One of my uncles died last week and I wanted to make a sympathy card to send to his wife (one of my late mum's sisters) and family.  We're not going to be able to go to his funeral as Jack's still at school and it's too far to travel there and back in a day. But I'm sure plenty of family and friends will be there. My mum came from a very large family (she was one of 12 children!) and I have many, many cousins and all their families too! So I'm sure that many will be there to pay respects to Uncle Pat, a lovely, gentle man.  I suppose one of the nice things about making cards is that you can make something special and personal for people

I've used a digi stamp from Whimsy.  It was actually for Easter, but I removed the Easter message and just used the cross. I think it looks ok.  I've coloured it simply with promarkers

The backing paper is from First Edition. Then I've added some cream ribbon and lilies from stash (I've had them so long I can't remember where I got them!). The leaves are made using a Poppystamps die. The soft sage green seam binding is from Pretty Little Ribbon Shop.  Then I just added a sentiment I printed on the computer.
So quite a simple card with soft, muted colours. But I prefer that for a sympathy card.
I hope that we get some warmer weather for this week ahead - but I'm not holding my breath!
Keep warm,

Embossing

Hi I'm back again today with my second post (please scroll down to see my CraftyCatz post!).  It's time for a new challenge over at Polkadoodles and this week Team A have the challenge of 'embossing'!  So you can either do some dry embossing or sprinkle over your embossing powders!

For my inspiration card I've used the Polkadoodles 'Back to Nature' cd-rom

I just love those swirly peacock feathers and the lilac and green colours.  I've used a tag from the cd and added a sentiment.  Then punched some eyelets in and threaded ribbon through. I've added an embossed panel of coredinations card using the Cuttlebug 'birds and swirls' folder and lightly sanded it back. Then a few flowers from WOC and Joanna Sheen. The swirl is a Marianne die cut.

So quite a simple design really, but I was quite pleased with the overall look and thought it could be suitable for a variety of uses!
So I do hope that you'll join us at Polkadoodles - and have a look at the fantastic inspiration from the DT!

Sparkle & Bows!

Good morning all in Blogland and apologies but a bit late with this post - and for being a bit awol over the last day or so. I've had sickness and a nasty migraine (again!!) - I really hate these migraines! They leave you feeling so drained as well that it takes a day or so to pick up again. I'm keeping diaries now to try and pinpoint any triggers or causes, but just wish they'd STOP lol!
Anyway, less waffle!  I hope that you're keeping warm wherever you are - as I look out of our window at the moment there is a howling icy cold wind everything is white with snow blowing everywhere. It'd all be very seasonal if it was mid-December, but I do feel someone should explain to the weather systems that it's heading towards the end of March now!  This time last year we were sat having tea outside! I just hope we get a hot summer to compensate us for this....
It's Friday again, and that means time for a new challenge over at CraftyCatz!  And this week our lovely Sassy has chosen the theme of 'Sparkle and a Bow' - so not too difficult really!  For my card inspiration I've used one of the fantastic Time for Tea range of digi stamps from Polkadoodles called 'Fall Love'

Isn't she a cutie?  I've coloured her with promarkers and flexmarkers and added glitter to the heart on her top!

The backing papers are from First Edition, matted onto Kraft card (and the pink one is also a bit glittery!). The ribbon/bow is using pink seam binding, with button from stash and some twine added. The sentiment stamps are from LOTV.
Hope you like it!  And hope that you'll stay in and keep warm - and join us at CraftyCatz with your sparkly creations!

Warning- Bright Colour Alert!

Hello and hope that everyone is well in Blogland?  Thank you for all the lovely comments and a warm welcome to my new followers - I'm so thrilled that you've chosen to follow my little blog but I feel I should warn you that I chatter on quite a lot! It seems to have been a busy few days for me so I'm hoping I can actually get some crafting done today!  And I was so excited to win some gorgeous crafting goodies on the lovely Eileen's blog when she had her recent blog candy so I'm desperate to start playing with those! You know how it is when you get some new crafty items, we just turn into big kids again! (Well, I do!).

I think you might need your shades on for this one! I've used one of the gorgeous new digi stamps from Whimsy, by Marika Collins called 'Ballet Girl'

Well, I warned you it was bright!  I've gone for zesty lemons and limes on this one.  I've coloured the image with promarkers and flexmarkers

The backing papers are from K&Co and First Edition.  I've stamped a flower (using a freebie stamp that came with a magazine!) onto patterned paper but it looked a bit 'flat', so I cut round the petals and then curved them for a bit of extra dimension which I think looks a bit better!  The sheer ribbon is from Joanna Sheen and the buttons are from stash.

Hope you like it! And hope that you'll have a look at the fabulous range of digi stamps over at Whimsy!

Pretty Pink Birthday!

Good morning all and hope that your weekend is going well? Welcome to my new followers - lovely to have you join me! And a big thank you for all the lovely comments. It's a fairly quiet weekend here as daughter busy studying and son gone to a sleepover at his friend's - so a peaceful Sunday morning apart from Tilly the Dog doing her usual Hokey Cokey routine with the back door (i.e. out, in, then out, then back in, then out - you get the picture...!) and Poppy the Cat sat next to me glaring at "that stupid dog"!  And no sign of Spring yet? Tilly and I went for a march across the field and beck at the back of our house - and it was like a quagmire! Of course, she loved it, splashed about in the beck and trampled through all the mud - lovely! So you can imagine what state she was in when we got back! Thank goodness she's short-haired!

Anyway, less waffle from me and a little birthday card to show you.  Nikky Hall at Polkadoodles is at the Harrogate show this weekend - wish I could have got there! And she's got some fantastic crafting goodies for sale! One of the new items on sale is (and in the online store here )
***Digistamp Heaven CD Rom Collection
a cd full of over 150 digi stamps by Emma Canning.
So I've used a couple of the digi stamps on this cd for this cute birthday card

I've used three digi stamps together (the gifts used twice and then the bunting) and coloured them with promarkers and flexmarkers.

The pretty backing paper is from the Polkadoodles 'CherryBlossomLane' cd.  I've then added some stitching, and some die cuts using Marianne flowers and butterfly (using coredinations card) with some dew drops and gems.  The sheer ribbon is from Joanna Sheen.  So quite a pink and girly one, but could easily be made with more 'masculine' colours and embellies!
Hope you like it!

and I do hope you'll have a look at the gorgeous inspiration from the DT at Totally Papercrafts.

For my card I've used a Tilda stamp 'Tilda Catching Stars'

I've coloured Tilda with promarkers and flexmarkers and added some glossy accents & stickles

I've used Spellbinders border die
The flowery and spotty papers were freebies! I've added ribbon & a lace bow (made from stash) and  DooHickey 'doily flower' die cuts with starry buttons from stash. The leaf die is from Marianne.
Sorry about the photo overload!

Make You Laugh!

Good morning all and it's suddenly Friday again!  And it seems to have been the usual busy week here - but no surprises there! And it's still cold and wintery - roll on Spring! At least the days are getting slightly longer and I'm not getting up in the dark or driving home from work in the dark which is lovely!  I just wish it would warm up a bit!  My 14 year old son was doing his school charity fun run yesterday (always seems a strange phrase that! 'fun' and 'run' aren't two words I would automatically put together lol!).  He ended up doing a 4.5 mile run in cold sleety rain - but was pleased he'd beaten his previous year's time by over 4 minutes! We soon warmed him up though with crumpets and toast (as he seems to constantly eat at the moment!) - and lots of congratulations! We just need to collect him some sponsor money now!

Anyway, less of my waffle! As it's Friday, it's time for a new challenge over at CraftyCatz and this week our lovely Carol wants to cheer everyone up - and has picked the theme 'Make You Laugh!' so we'd like to see your crafty creations with a humorous theme!  Our sponsors this week are the fabulous Bugaboo

And I've used one of the fabulous Bugaboo images for my card

This is 'Stella Morning' - now I'm not suggesting that this looks like me (well, only sometimes) but I definitely need a mug of tea before I can cope with the day!
I've coloured the image with promarkers

The backing papers are from K&Co with some added ribbon & button from stash. The sentiment is also from Bugaboo. I've used a MS punch to make the border strip and coredinations card.
Hope she makes you smile!  And do have a look at the fantastic inspiration from the DT at CraftyCatz and then join us for a few smiles!

Want to fly a kite?

Hello all and hope that your week is going well? Thank you for all the lovely comments you've been leaving - they mean so much!  It's a lovely sunny morning here - but cold! And I've a list of jobs in front of me to do today when I'm not at work (well, the paid variety of work lol!) - sigh!

But before I head off and get busy, it's time for a new challenge over at Whimsy Inspirations.  This month the challenge is 'Stitch It!' so we'd like to see some stitching on your creations (either real or faux).  And I've used one of the new releases from Crissy's Digis "Want to fly a kite"

Isn't he a cutie? And such a cheeky smile!  I've coloured the image with promarkers and flexmarkers

and although the card is mostly soft blue shades I quite liked the 'pop' of red for his jacket!  The papers are from Nitwit at LOTV, layered with coredinations card. The ribbon is from stash. The sentiment stamp is also from Whimsy - Raindrop Echo 'ticket notes'. Then I've simply added some buttons with twine and a little reel of twine.
Hope you like this little chap - and I hope you'll join us at Whimsy Inspires for the Stitch It! challenge.

Birthday card for an old g*t!

Hello all and I hope that your week has started well?  And I hope that all you mum's out there in the UK were spoilt a bit yesterday - and special hugs for those whose mums are no longer with us. Sadly, both my darling mum and my lovely mother-in-law have both passed away, and I miss them every day - and particularly at times like Christmas, birthdays and Mothering Sunday. But I have my own babies(!) now and so received gifts, flowers and a card - and lots of hugs!
And I do hope that you're keeping warm?  Here in the UK it's been freezing, with flurries of snow every so often. Today I had a girly shopping day at the Trafford Centre in Manchester with a friend (about an hour away on the motorway). It was ok driving there, and we had a good chat over coffee & lunch, an enjoyable browse round the shops but then when I set off home it was like a blizzard! And I hate driving in the snow! Fortunately the roads were clear, but the visibility was awful with snow blowing everywhere! Hey ho. But thankfully after a few miles it all started to clear again! I've decided that I'm just a wuss with bad weather!

Anyway, just a quick card to share with you today - I realised that I hadn't shown you the card I made for my darling husband's birthday when he officially became an old git lol! (Or that's what we keep telling him!)

Now I'm not suggesting that we look like that (only sometimes on an early morning after a late night) - but I love these Bugaboo images!

I've coloured the image with promarkers. The backing papers are coredinations card and K&Co papers. The sentiment is also from Bugaboo. The twine & twill ribbon are from stash and the wooden star button from CraftyEmblies.
Quite a simple card, but he doesn't really do 'fussy' ones - but it raised a smile!
Hope you like it.
I'll be back soon and try and catch up with everyone's blogs. Thank you so much for the lovely comments you leave - and a big welcome to my new followers too!

Easter Inspiration!

As promised (or threatened - whichever way you want to look at it lol!) - I'm back with some Easter Inspiration!  Even though it doesn't look very Spring-like outside today, I thought I'd share some spring colours with you with a new digi release from Whimsy

I've used this cute bunny with his easter eggs from StampArtDesign at Whimsy. I've coloured him with promarkers

The backing papers are from K&Co and I've used a Tonic border punch. The sentiment on the little tag is also from Whimsy (with an extra b&w image of the bunny on!).
The cute wooden easter egg embellies are from stash - and I've had them so long I've forgotten where they came from (typical!).  But I do hope you'll have a look at the gorgeous new range of digi stamp releases from Whimsy - there's something for all occasions!
So some bright colours for a dull day!  Hope the sun is shining a bit where you are!
Right, off to do the weekend's 'catch up' routine of laundry and h****work :(

Good morning all and hope that your weekend has started well?  It's a grey and dreary sort of morning here - but I suppose that means it's a good day for crafting lol!

So distressed!

Hello - and I'm back again!  I'm not on for a few days and then you can't get rid of me lol!  It's time for a new challenge over at Polkadoodles and this week the theme is 'Distressing'.

I decided to make a hanger for this challenge using one of the gorgeous Polkadoodles stamps 'Be Neighbours'

I've used coredinations card and distressed the edges.  The backing papers are from the Polkadoodles Picknix cd - there are some fantastic design papers on there! I've added distress ink and faux stitching (using LOTV stamp). The sentiment is also from the Picknix cd.

I've coloured the image with flexmarkers and some added chalks. I've added a Sizzix flower die cut (using the same papers) and some lace from stash. There's a Marianne die cut swirl, some gorgeously cute wooden scissors from CraftyEmblies and some twine for the hanger.
So, something a little different from me! Hope you like it!
So do join us at Polkadoodles Challenge this week with your distressing!  And there are some fabulous offers on at the moment over at Polkadoodles on cds, stamps and all sorts of crafting goodies!
