Surviving the school holidays?

Good morning and hope that all are well in Blogland. Did you watch the Olympics closing ceremony? Looked like a great party was had by all!  It was so nice to see all the atheletes & their teams pour into the stadium without the formality of the opening procession. And what were the highlights for me? I loved seeing 80,000 people singing along with Eric Idle and 'Always Look on the Bright Side', and got quite emotional seeing Take That perform with Gary Barlow - it must have been so hard for him with the tragedy he & his family have dealt with this week - to sing 'Rule the World' (one of my favourites). And I'm sure even the most sceptical cannot deny that the Games were a great success and a fabulous morale boost for the UK with all the economic gloom and rubbish summer weather!

Anyway, less of my waffling! I must try to stop waffling on so much in these posts - I'm sure most people will have dozed off before they even reach the 'crafty' bit!

Not a card today, but some cross stitch & crochet!

When I saw this cross stitch pattern I just had to smile. My kids definitely cause my insanity (although the dog and the cat add an extra dose!).  And surviving the school summer holidays is a sure-fire way to increase the insanity with a constant stream of teenagers wafting through the house!

It's a shame that it doesn't really show up on the picture, but there are seed beads on there too. It was an easy pattern to do, but now I'm just deciding what to do with it! Frame it, cushion cover,....? Think it might go in a frame in the kitchen - where a lot of my insanity occurs! 

The crochet underneath is a baby blanket that I've just finished for my friend's daughter who's just had a baby (which I mentioned in an earlier post). It's been a while since I did any crochet, but quite enjoyed this, and would just like to make a few crochet 'flowers' to add on.
