Did ya miss me....?

Hello all and I hope that you're all well?  I'm back off my holidays and had a wonderful, relaxing time in Santorini, a stunningly beautiful little Greek island!  It's amazing how some warm sunshine, lovely food and plenty of 'chill out' time can recharge the batteries. So I do hope that you can all find some 'chill out' time too this summer in whatever fashion works best for you!  So apologies for not calling round to visit your blogs and catch up with all your crafty creations, but hopefully I will be able to catch up with people over the next few days and then get Mr Mojo fired up again to start crafting again.  I often find it quite difficult to 'get going' again after a break, but I'll hopefully get chance to do some colouring over the next few days to start me off - when I've finished catching up with the laundry! Holiday is definitely over!  But before I go I'll just share a few photos that my son Jack took on holiday (he likes his camera!) as Santorini really is a most picturesque island

Thira - the capital, built on the cliff tops!

The Greek Orthodox cathedral at Thira

Greek windmill!

A stunning sunset, viewed from a boat!

A special sort of twilight!

Hope you like the pics!

A new home

Hello all and I hope that your weekend is going well?  If Blogger scheduling is working it should be Sunday morning - and I should be somewhere enjoying some sunshine and relaxing (I hope!).  I'll be back mid week and hopefully feeling refreshed and ready to start crafting again - although I know that sometimes if I've had a break it's hard to get the mojo fired up again!  But at least I'll be able to catch up with all your blogs and see what crafty creations you've been blogging!

Another card from me using the Hunkydory 'special occasions' card kit that I was lucky enough to win over at Craft Creations.

and the inside

I've added some ribbon, pearly heart and a Memory Box 'precious heart' die cut.
This is for my lovely step-daughter Charlotte and her partner Tom who've just moved home - and bought their first house together!

A pink and cuddly Christmas!

Hello and I'm back again (well, sort of!) as with the magic of Blogger scheduling it should be Friday lol! Just hope that Blogger plays ball and the scheduling works!

There's a new challenge starting over at the Polkadoodles Challenge - and the theme is 'Christmas in July' (I know, it seems to be a popular challenge at the moment lol!).
I've used a gorgeous image from Polkadoodles new Christmas cd 'Angelberry Christmas' called "Angel Hugs"

I've coloured the image with copics and promarkers.  I've added (lots!) of glamour dust to the wings and some pearly drops on the image

The gorgeous backing papers are also from the cd (I really love that tree one!) and the sentiment is also on the cd. I've added some Tonic punched snowflakes, pearls, some pink ribbon and a pearly heart.
Don't forget to have a look at the fantastic cd on the Polkadoodles website - and please have a look at the fantastic inspiration from the DT over at the challenge blog.  And remember that Nikky Hall from Polkadoodles will be on Create and Craft tv on 29th July with the Angelberry Christmas cd!

Christmas in July!

Good morning all and I hope that you've had a good week?  I'm not sure what the weather is like in the UK at the moment as I'm off in the sunshine (I hope lol!) but over at CraftyCatz this week the challenge is 'Christmas in July'!  Our lovely Nina is hosting this week's challenge and our fabulous sponsors are Bugaboo images and I've used a fantastic Stella image (oh I love this woman's attitude!)

I've coloured the image with copics and promarkers. The red embossed backing paper is coredinations colour core, the christmas present design paper is from the Polkadoodles 'Angelberry Christmas' cd.

The sentiment comes with the image!  I've matted with some gold mirri card and the red ribbon is from stash and the gold star is a Marianne die cut.
Do pop over to the CraftyCatz challenge and have a look at the fantastic inspiration from the DT - and join us with your Christmas creations!

Angelberry Christmas

Hello all, a scheduled post from me as I'm heading off with husband and son for a break away - so I'll catch up with you all when I get back at the end of the month!
Nikky Hall at Polkadoodles has a fabulous new mini cd out for Christmas called 'Angelberry Christmas' and there are some fantastic images (both b&w digis for colouring at your leisure and some pre-coloured ones for when time is running a bit short!), some gorgeous backing papers and fabulous embellishments and sentiments.  Nikky will be on Create and Craft tv on 29th with the cd - so do try and catch her and see some of the fabulous inspiration!
I've used papers, a topper and sentiment from the cd for my tri-fold card

Isn't that reindeer just so cute?  I've simply added some glamour dust to his nose, a glittery edge for the sentiment and some Tonic punched snowflakes with gems from stash.

For a bit of added interest (!) I made a band with some of the gorgeous reindeer backing paper to fit around the card.

And it's a nice flat design for posting!  (So important with our rapidly rising postage costs - particularly at Christmas when I seem to post so many!).
Don't forget to join in and see Nikky with the Angelberry Christmas cd on Create and Craft tv or have a look on the Polkadoodles website

Need to relax!

Hello all and I hope that your weekend is going well?  A little cloudy here with a slightly fresher breeze - which is very welcome today as it means I can get some things done rather than loafing about like a limp lettuce leaf.  I wasn't very well on Friday with a mega migraine that started in the early hours and lasted most of the day - and yesterday was like the hangover from the migraine!  Wish I didn't get these damned things! But just hoping I've got things out of the way as him indoors, son and I are going away at beginning of the week for a week or so - leaving daughter in charge at home with the furry friends (or should that be fiends!). There will be a few scheduled posts from me during the week - but I apologise in advance for not visiting blogs and seeing all your fab creations and I'll try and catch up with everyone when I'm back at the end of the month!  Just hoping now that I can get jobs done and get bags packed ready to go.  I'm currently trying to make sure everything is washed and ironed for taking and stopping everyone from wearing their stuff!  Getting ready to go away brings out the sergeant major tendencies in me (bit like when Christmas is approaching!) - and I go into major organisation mode with lists of things to take, 'jobs to do', things to remember!  Once I get in the car or on a plane then I relax - but before then I have my head buzzing with so much rubbish about what needs doing!  "Chill Out Kim!"

Anyway, just a quick card to share with you today. I was lucky enough to win a challenge over at My Craft Creations a couple of weeks ago and the prize was a fabulous Hunkydory cardmaking kit.  Now, I don't really do kits - especially as my passion is stamping and colouring - but I have to say I am impressed with the quality of the card, colours and printing and the die cut toppers and decoupage and lovely backing card means quick card making!  So handy when you need to do something at short notice!  So a few of these will be appearing over the next couple of weeks as with being away and school holidays, crafting time gets somewhat reduced!

Now this looks relaxing! Think I might have to do this later today when I've finished faffing about!

I've simply added some ribbon and clear dewdrops to the toppers and card and - hey presto! - a cute card! So simple!
Anyway, I hope that your weekend is a relaxing one - and I'll try and get around everyone's blogs before I log off for a few days!

Banners and Pennants!

Good morning - and a scheduled post from me as I'm on my way to work (not the nicest thing when the weather is so warm!).  It's time for a new challenge over at CraftyCatz and this week our challenge was to use 'banners, pennants or bunting' in our crafty creations - and our fabulous sponsor this week is the Paper Shelter.  I've used one of their images on my card

I've coloured the image with copics and promarkers.
The backing papers are from First Edition. I've added that LaLaLand banner (are you sick of seeing it yet?) and some Tonic punched flowers with pearl centres and a Marianne die cut swirl. I wasn't too sure about the apricot/lilac colour combo, but I think it looks ok.
But I hope you'll get your banners and bunting out and join us at CraftyCatz!

Big congratulations!

A bit of a self-indulgent post from me this evening so I hope you don't mind!  Our daughter Lauren has been going out with her boyfriend Tom for nearly 3 and a half years - he's just turned 21 (a year older than Lauren) and they've gone through A levels and university at Lancaster together. Lauren has just finished her second year and Tom has completed his degree this summer and today was his graduation.  He's such a clever young man and very focused on his studies, and he passed his degree in Biological Sciences with a First Class honours. To top it all he was also awarded (within the Science dept) the Mansfield Prize for the highest grades and the Society of Biology award for achievement - and was then told he would be receiving a Chancellor's Medal from Lancaster University for outstanding achievement.  They only award 6 a year to all the graduates (usually around 2000!) to those who have attained exceptional grades in their subject. So to say we were all proud of him is something of an understatement!  And as he's spent a good amount of time at our house over the past few years, I'd like to think that our slightly wacky household (not to mention my cooking - particularly my Chilli - his favourite!) has helped in a little way towards his fabulous achievement lol!  I was lucky enough to accompany Lauren and his parents to the Uni today for his ceremony (Lauren and I watched on a 'live feed' screen) - even though we were all melting in the heat!

Lauren & Tom!

Tom receiving his Chancellor's Medal from Sir Chris Bonnington (the Chancellor of Lancaster Uni).

And my little card for him!
(I've used the 'graduation set' from DigiStampBoutique), together with Memory Box 'precious stars' die cuts)

Tom's off to the University of Sussex in September to start his PhD in genetic research (he tried to explain to me what he's doing in simple terms - basically, it's research into cancer and damage to dna cells!).

So apologies for my rather indulgent post today - but he's such a quiet, unassuming young man that it's nice to blow his trumpet for him (because he would never do it himself lol!).

Big Love!

Hello all and how is your week going? I hope it's warm enough for you wherever you are!  I know that some people aren't keen on the hot weather but I do like it - but it's not so comfortable at night!  I have enough 'hot' moments of my own at my age without any outside help! Even Tilly the Dog was up at 3am this morning, obviously feeling a bit hot and thirsty, pottered into the kitchen and had a drink (hence loud slurping noises echoing through the house that obviously only I can hear!) and then decided that she'd quite like some company. So I had to come down, let her out for a quick sniff round outside and then send her firmly back to bed!  Problem is, that once I've woken up I find it so hard to get back off to sleep, so I was definitely on the weary side at work this afternoon!

I'd just like to share another card made with one of the gorgeous new releases from Whimsy Digital stamps - this one is called 'Big Love' by Marika Collins at Whimsy

I've coloured the image with copics
The backing papers are from K&Co and I've added a lovely 'postmarks' stamp from Kaisercraft. The brown satin ribbon is from stash (stolen, I think, from some chocolates!) and a Marianne die cut heart. And I've distressed the edges of the coredinations card.
Hope you like the chocolate shades - and I hope you'll have a look at the range of gorgeous digi stamps over at Whimsy!

And the sunshine goes on....!

Hello all and I hope that your week has started well? We seem to have had a busy start to our week - and it's set to stay pretty busy too. I'd swapped a work day today and took the troops (i.e. son, daughter and daughter's boyfriend) off to the Trafford Centre which, for those who don't know, is a very big shopping mall on the outskirts of Manchester (about an hour's drive from me).  So now I'm sat here with incredibly tired feet and a much lighter purse....  My son hadn't been since he was about 7 so thoroughly enjoyed going into all the hip, groovy shops that teenagers like to go in - the sort that have dimmed lighting, loud music, high prices, etc.  I think I'm turning into a grumpy old shopper and have a terrible urge to shout loudly "Will somebody put the lights on and turn that bl**dy music down!!!".  Thankfully, I restrained myself - otherwise my son and heir would have been so mortified he probably wouldn't have spoken to me again (or should I say, grunted to me again?). I did manage to cause him embarrassment by setting the alarm off in the phone shop by moving a mobile phone on the display. I could see his cheeks redden and eyes roll - but I did remind him that he did his fair share of embarrassing me in shops when he was little so I was only getting my own back.  Anyway, he did manage to accumulate a fair number of carrier bags with a variety of clothing and some new shoes for school (kerching! kerching! £££££).  I just needed a long cool drink and a lie down in a dark room when we got back....

Anyway, after all that, I've got another Christmas card to share with you - and yes, I know that we're in a heatwave in the middle of summer!  This one is also from the fabulous new mini cd 'Angelberry Christmas' from Polkadoodles

I've coloured the image with copics and added lots of glamour dust on the wings. The backing paper is actually from the Picknix cd from Polkadoodles.

The flowers are actually cut from red felt with a Marianne die and I've added green buttons with twine from stash. The gingham ribbon is from Joanna Sheen with some gold bells from stash. The holly die cut is Cheery Lynn with some red dew drops.
Do check out the gorgeous Angelberry Christmas cd from Polkadoodles - it's fabulous!

Time to get the citrus shades out!

Good morning all and I hope that your weekend is going well?  Another beautiful morning here, although I feel I ought to get what jobs I need to do out of the way early because by midday it's just too warm to be doing things, so Tilly the Dog and I have been out on the field early and I've had a quick tidy up before the rest of the house emerges from bedrooms!  My son had one of his friends stopping last night (again! - we seem to be a general lodgings for offspring's friends at weekends) but I doubt they'll surface till nearer lunch time!

But today is an exciting one for me as it's my first post as part of the Joanna Sheen DT!  I was asked to join the DT a few weeks ago - and was thrilled to accept.  So the new challenge starting today is 'Citrus Colours'.  I was sent some decoupage to work with which is definitely out of my comfort zone - so that was my part of the challenge! I always feel I'm a bit rubbish at cutting out!  But the House Mouse image was just so cute

I've added an embossed panel (using Cuttlebug 'swiss dots'), the LaLaLand banner die cut and Marianne ivy leaf die, together with some roses from WOC. The sheer ribbons in lemon and lime are from Joanna Sheen, as are the Queen &Co candy stripers.
I hope you like it (even my dodgy cutting out attempts with the decoupage!) - and that you will pop over to the Joanna Sheen Challenge blog and have a look at the fantastic inspiration from the DT and then join us with your citrus coloured creations!

Is it hot enough for you....?

Hello all!  Is it hot enough for you? Because it's pretty warm here lol! But I'm not complaining because we didn't seem to have any summer last year. Tilly the Dog is flopped semi-conscious for most of the day and the cat sprawls out in the garden under the nearest shade!  But it's lovely to get up in the morning and sit outside with my morning cup of tea - much nicer than rain (I don't sit outside in that!).  We've got our usual comings and goings all weekend, teenagers doing the hokey cokey (in, out, in, then out again...!).

And so what have I got to share with you on one of the warmest days of the year?  Yes, you've guessed it - a Christmas card lol! The crafting world is something of a strange one with it's calendar, as I've realised that companies start releasing their Christmas collections and inspirations during the summer - and Nikky Hall at Polkadoodles is releasing a fabulous mini-cd for Christmas called Angelberry Christmas

**** Angelberry Christmas

and it's full of fabulous angels (coloured and b&w digis), papers, embellishments, etc. So do pop over to the Polkadoodles website and have a look.

I've made a card using one of the digis

I've coloured her with copics and added lots of glamour dust to her wings!

I added some pearls to her headdress. I've added some faux stitching to the papers and distressed the edges, some ribbon and a snowflake charm from stash. The die cut is using the Elyse Tree from Memory Box and I've added some clear dew drops.
Hope the cool colours have cooled you down lol!
I'll be back tomorrow - it'll be time for a new challenge over at Joanna Sheen and my first DT card (yippee!)

Summer Fun!

Hello and I'm back again - as it's time for a new challenge over at Polkadoodles!  This week the challenge is 'Summer Fun' - and with the weather we've been having it should be easy to get inspired!

There is a fabulous new cd out at Polkadoodles called Bonbon Belles - and it really is fantastic! It's worth it's price just for the gorgeous papers and embellishments alone, never mind all the digi images and coloured images!
**** Bonbon Belles Double CD Collection

Now when I think of summertime, I think of beaches (perhaps memories of many a happy holiday on the beaches of Devon and Cornwall when the children were small!) - and a wonderful thing on beaches are beach huts!  So when I saw these on the Bonbon Belles cd I just had to use them!

Aren't they just gorgeous!
I used three of the coloured digi images, merged them on the pc together with a deckchair image. The backing papers are also from the cd (I love that clouds one - I can see that being used a lot!) - and the banner and sentiment are also from the cd. I've added some dewdrops and a spotty bow (with ribbon from Joanna Sheen).
Do have a look at the fabulous inspiration from the DT over at Polkadoodles Challenge - and don't forget to have a look at the brilliant Bonbon Belles cd!
Nikky Hall at Polkadoodles also has a new Christmas collection coming out very soon - and I'll be sharing some makes with you from the fab images on there!
So many crafting things to do - so little time!

Sunshine colours

Hello all and welcome to my little corner of Blogland on a Friday morning! I hope that the glorious summer weather continues for a few more days - especially as I'm at work today so will only be able to see it through a window!
As it's Friday it's time for a new challenge over at CraftyCatz - and this week our lovely Naomi has given us a colour swatch!

Our sponsor this week is the wonderful Pink Gem Designs and I've used one of their gorgeous digis for my DT card

I've coloured the image with copics and promarkers.

The backing papers are from LOTV and the flowers are from WOC. I've added die cut leaves from a Marianne die. The sheer ribbon is from Joanna Sheen and the pearly centre from WOC.
So I hope you'll have a look at the fabulous inspiration from the DT over at CraftyCatz  - there are some really fantastic creations this week! And join us with your crafty creations!

Waiting for rain...

Good morning all (although never sure when people read these posts lol!) - and another glorious morning in the north of England! It feels as though we're finally having a summer this year, as last year it seemed to pass us by!  It's such a nice feeling to get up in the morning and open all doors and windows - and then rapidly take all my hay fever medication lol!  Every year I keep hoping I've grown out of it - but at nearly the half century point (ugh!) I'm starting to give up hope of that happening. So I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll continue to love spring and summer, I'll carry on growing plants and flowers - but enjoy them from behind watering eyes and in between sneezes!  Usually by about mid July the pollen starts to ease off but as we had such a late spring this year I'm not sure that'll be happening. Hey ho. But I'm so pleased it's a nice start for our youngest's school holidays - he finished school yesterday for the summer and is off later to play tennis with a mate (much better than sat on his computer!).  And everything that isn't nailed down is getting thrown into the washer for a freshen up too!

Just wanted to share a card with you today that I made for my lovely step-daughter Lucy whose birthday was last Friday

The sweet image is from Mo's Digital Pencil called 'Waiting for rain' (although she might have a bit of wait with our weather at the moment lol!). I've coloured her with copics

The backing papers are from LOTV - and then I got well and truly carried away with the flowers from WOC, so definitely not CAS in style!  I've added a die cut meadow leaf from Poppystamps, LaLaLand heart banner die cut and sentiment (&die) from Whimsy.  The lace is from stash.

and the inside decorated to match

Hope you like it - fortunately Lucy did which is the main thing!
Well I'm off to sort more laundry out lol!  Enjoy your day whatever you have planned.

It's a hard life....

Hello all - and I hope that your week has started well?  And I hope you're enjoying the sunshine - even though I know that it's a bit warm for some!  I love the sun - but I'm not enjoying the hay fever lol! I don't think sneezing, runny eyes and sniffles is my most attractive feature... And it's definitely a bit too hot during the day for Tilly the Dog, who just flops around the house and garden trying to find the coolest spot. However, I will never understand why she then goes and lies in the sun again until she's panting and scorching hot!  Ridiculous hound!  So, it's doggy walks in an evening and then, by the time I've wielded the watering cans round the garden and greenhouse, I'm ready for bed!

But I have a list of DT work to get done - not to mention a few family birthday cards - so as I'm not at work tomorrow I'll have to get started at the craft table!

But just wanted to share another of the new releases from Whimsy Digital with you - and this cute character is from Crissys Digis called 'You float my boat'

I've coloured the image with copics and promarkers, with some added pencil

The brown backing paper is from K&Co and the blue papers are from LOTV.  I've added twine and buttons from stash and printed a sentiment on the computer.
I think on a hot summer's day this is what we should be doing!
And thank you for all your good wishes about my daughter - and thankfully, she is feeling much better now (thank goodness for antibiotics!).

Lovely Summer Sunshine!

Hello all - hope your weekend is going well? And I hope your weather is glorious like it is here! I know not everyone likes the sunshine but I love waking up to blue skies and sunny mornings (even though my hay fever is wicked at the moment!).  Tilly the Dog and I were out for morning walks early this morning as it gets too warm to take her during the day, so she had a fun time bouncing round the field, meeting some other dogs and splashing about in the beck - and has now collapsed in a furry heap and is snoring!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, and I'll make a concerted effort to get round to everyone's blogs later today!  It's been a busy weekend as it was my lovely step-daughter Lucy's birthday on Friday and our gorgeous daughter Lauren's birthday yesterday (I can't believe my baby is 20!). But sadly, she's not been too well and we ended up going to the out of hours service yesterday who diagnosed an infection and she's now got antibiotics and painkillers! Poor love! Not really the way you want to spend your birthday is it?  But she seems a bit brighter this morning and has managed some breakfast so, fingers crossed, she'll soon start to feel a lot better!  She'll just have to have a delayed birthday celebration. And it doesn't matter how old they are, they're still your babies really - although I did say that it was something of an irony that we ended up at the local hospital (where they have this clinic) when I'd also been there exactly 20 years ago with a little bundle of gorgeousness!

So I'd like to share the birthday card that I made for our 'Princess' (as my hubby thinks of all his 3 girls!)

I used the delightful Wee Stamps digi 'Amy' and coloured her with copics.

The backing paper is from MyMindsEye with some kraft card. Then lots of flowers from WOC, a 'Princess' charm from Pretty Little Ribbon Shop and die cut meadow leaf from Poppystamps and a 'precious heart' die cut from Memory Box. The sentiment stamps are from LOTV with gems from stash, and I've used a Tonic border punch.

And the inside decorated to match of course!

Slightly stronger and brighter colours than my usual pastels lol! But I hope you like it. And I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, whatever you have planned.

It's all child's play

Good morning - yippee, it's Friday! And we have some sunny, summery weather forecast for a few days so I'm hoping they're right!
And a scheduled post from me as I'm on my way to work so no crafting today :-(

As it's Friday it's time for a new challenge over at CraftyCatz. We had some fantastic flowery creations for last week's challenge so I'm hoping everyone joins us for this week's as our lovely Aunty Sue has challenged us with the theme 'Child's Play'. Our sponsors for this week's prize are Redonkadoodles and I've used one of their cute images, Karate Kick Boy, for my card

I've coloured the image with copics

The backing paper is from K&Co and the gorgeous button paper is from the new Bonbon Belles cd from Polkadoodles (which is fabulous - please check it out!).  I've added some bakers twine and some buttons from stash.  So quite a simple layout and I've kept embellishments to a minimum (which is unusual for me lol!).
So I hope you'll join us with your 'child themed' creations over at CraftyCatz!

Summer Wedding

Hello all and I hope that the sun is shining wherever you are!  It's not here unfortunately - but the weathermen keep telling us that there's some hot, sunny weather on the way so I'm keeping everything crossed!  Especially as it's my daughter's 20th birthday on Saturday - and my son breaks up from school for his summer holidays next Wednesday!  And thank you for all your lovely comments - and yes, I did have a very nice lunch with my friend yesterday lol!

My daughter was invited to a wedding which was a few days ago - and the first one of her friends to get married (only 20 years old - seems very young!).  My daughter and about 6 other girls were all very good friends at school and have stayed in touch even though they've all gone separate ways with universities, jobs, etc. And this was one of the group getting married. Her new husband is Canadian and she'll be moving out there with him in a couple of weeks, so huge changes all round. My daughter said it was a wonderful service, very moving, and a lovely reception - even if it all seemed a bit surreal that it was actually one of her friends lol!  And, of course, yours truly was asked if I could make a wedding card.  And I jumped at the chance!  It's not often I have cause to make one (although that will probably change as the offspring grow up!) but it's lovely to make cards for especially happy occasions like weddings and births!

So it was a great opportunity to use this gorgeous stamp from LOTV - I think they're just the cutest couple!  I've coloured the image with copics and promarkers
The backing papers are from First Edition (and stash). The flowers are from WOC and the ribbon and charm are from (the now sadly closed) pretty little ribbon shop. I've added pearl string from stash and Memory Box die cut 'precious hearts'.  The sentiment is also from LOTV and I've used Spellbinders floral oval dies for the image and sentiment.

and the inside is decorated to match.  Sadly, I forgot to take a pic of the decorated card box !

So definitely not a CAS creation! But I had great fun making it!
