Then I discovered Lili of the Valley and Sarah Kay stamps (which probably remain my favourite rubber stamps - with Mo Manning and Bugaboo for digi stamps). I used to colour the image in whatever colours took my fancy and then scrabble about amongst my (ever-growing) paper stash to find suitable papers! Now I tend to pick the image, then the papers, then colour the image to match - then play about with embellishments!
So I'm hoping tomorrow to concentrate on actually constructing these cards!
And as you can see, I tend to use a variety of pens. I do love using copics as I find they blend the best, but I only have a small selection (funds being what they are!), but I do have a reasonable stash of promarkers gathered over time that I often use. A set of 30 or so Graphit pens were bought for me at Christmas and I mix and match using these with the other ones lol!
I'd love to know how you feel your crafting has developed and changed over time! And I'll share the finished cards with you asap!
Hope you manage to fit some crafting time into your weekend!
Back soon,
Kim x
Oooh your colouring of these is fabulous Kim, look forward to seeing the finished product!
ReplyDeleteI pick my sketch first, then the stamp, then the papers and the embellishments usually sort themselves out! Oh and for me, no card is complete without a bit of bling or glitter ;)
Yes, I'm like you Kim. I pick my papers before I colour. For many years I didn't have a die cutting machine and used to cut frames and flowers by hand. When I received my Bigshot as a Christmas present it was amazing!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a good weekend.

Looking forward to see thing these complete Kim!! I often make up the card base first (usually when a new paper pad falls on the mat!!), so I have some in hand, and always colour the image to match the papers. Have a good Sunday xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful stamped images, and wonderful papers to match.
I do mine different and colour my images first, and then find a paper to match, and it's never failed me yet, but I will bear this in mind and try it.
Thanks for the wonderful insight of your wonderful designing tips.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Gorgeous colouring Kim. I think we have gone down the same road with our card making. The only difference is that I have always picked the image then the paper and card stock and then the embellies.

Fab colouring Kim, some lovely cards in progress. I'm like you in the order I make a card and I did chuckle when I thought back as I started out just using silver and gold peeloffs as the main image stuck onto card with no colouring whatsoever!! xx
ReplyDeleteI colour then choose papers Kim...not always easy...and you have been busy colouring your adorable images..I love the first image of the cute couple and coloured beautifully.

Your images are gorgeous and I bet you had fun colouring them. I like you can't make a card without using a stamped image, I started off with Copics, but earlier this year moved to DI'sand I am loving colouring with them. I colour fist and then try to find papers to match, but I am trying to change to finding the papers first.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good weekend.

ReplyDeleteI do it the same as you. I pick my papers, embellies, layout... all of it before I do the image. That is fabulous colouring on the Sarah Kay image... I just love the pink!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colouring. When and if I do colour, I colour first then add papers etc. I have so many to choose from that I always find something I can use :-)
